My 1st overseas trip...!!
I went to Penang!! heheh, that's my 1st overseas trip and i have gotten my 1st customs chop on my passport!! wwwwooooohhhhhooooo...!! ^_^ Mama, Papa, Niko 姐姐 and me had made a trip up to Penang via night coach over the weekend to attend my 慧姨姨's wedding...
Mama and Papa said that both 姐姐 and me are very the guai; the coach left singapore/malaysia customs at abt 10pm and 姐姐 got knock out within half an hour and never woke up until the coach stopped at our destination, Plaza Tol Juru 
at abt 6am next morning... as for me, Mama was carrying me and said I was tossing and turning on her as if i'm sleeping on my bed!! hahah and other than the 2 milk feed that i had requested, Mama said i was quite a good boy on the coach as i din really disturb anyone... :) and i was also up by the time we had alighted at our destination...

Learning to stand...
Nion has been very hardworking... putting on more muscles by the day so that he can be independent... he has since know how to go to 'SIT' position from lying on his tummy and has started to take a few crawl steps on all four... and he can even stand with support now!! ^_^ good work Nion!! :) it shouldn't be long before he can start to stand and even walk on his own!! but now is also a very dangerous time as he tends to stretch out his hands on everything that he had his eyes on!! have to keep everything out of his sight!! tiring!!

Niko got accepted into the Singapore Ballet Academy!!
25 April... opened the mailbox to find this letter from Singapore Ballet Academy; results of Niko's ballet assessment on 18 April!! Nicholas 爸爸 had always wanted to enrol Niko into the academy but the classes are always full and we had been on the waiting list for almost half a year...!! Nicholas 爸爸 then got a call from the academy to arrange for Niko's assessment and he jumped on the chance!! Niko did us proud and she got accepted into the academy!!

Feather Run 2009
Niko jie jie went for a 1.2km Feather Run at the bird park last sunday~ 1.2km, a bit too much for a little girl?!? hmm, we were actually walking most of the time and looking at the different birds on exhibit lar so it was still alright~!!~ :p

hem... niko did attended a few piano lesson with a big group of little friends but after that we didn't let her go for anymore classes; thought we would let her have a 1-to-1 class in the near future~
however, she does play with the piano at home now and then and is actually her 爸爸 nicholas teaching her!! let's see what she's capable of... shots taken just last night... with mama, papa and nion as the audience~ :)

a few more days and i will be turning 9 months old le... but before that, i have 2 more teeth spourting out from my upper gum!! no wonder i have been drooling like dunno what!! heheh...
So now, i have 4...!! wonder when will i have more teeth... then i can join 妈妈， 爸爸 and 姐姐 in their meals!! although 妈妈 use a lot of ingredients (sweet corn / lotus root / cherry tomato / potato / carrot / cabbage / broccoli / cauliflower / pumpkin / etc. etc. etc......) to cook my porridge... but what they are eating looks so much more delicious than mine!! yum yum yum~ opps...!! :p

i had my 2nd hair cut in 7 months!!
mama brought me for my 1st hair cut when i was 40 days old...
another 7 months+ go the road, my hair has grown quite a bit and the weather is killing me!! i'm sweating... and my head itch!! and i keep scratching my head because of that... and i think mama cannot stand it looking at me scratching my head and so, tampines ah ma, mama and me made our way to the barber...
12 April 2009, sunday... mama asked if i could have armani style but mr barber said cannot... also dunno why... so mama indicated she wants everything short except for my top to have slightly longer 'mane'... heheh...
this is me before the haircut...

The future of the Huang family...
Now, Nick and I are in heated discussion with regards to the future of our family... there are some factors which be make major changes to our lifestyle come May 2009...
1. Mama Eva, Nick's mother, will be going back to Taiwan 3 May 2009 ==> no one to look after Nion.
2. Niko will start Primary 1 in 2010.
3. Nick and I will still be working in Jurong East and Clementi respectively...
4. Nion to follow Nick to go Creative O child care in 2011...
5. Our red plate car...
so what are we discussing about?!?
1. Mama Eva goes back Taiwan; no one to look after Nion le!! then how?!? Luckily Mama Sally, my mother, has offered to help look after Nion. But Mama Sally stays in Tampines; so Nion would have to stay in Tampines as well.
i.) So, do we visit Nion everyday or alt. days?!?
ii.) Do we bring Nion home everyday or only during the weekends?!?
2. Niko will start Primary 1 in 2010. Which school to enrol her in?!? 3 choices...
i.) schools in Tampines near my mama's place ==> Mama Sally can help to bring Niko to and fro school...
ii) schools in Punggol where we live ==> i will bring Niko to and fro school... ==> not feasible; travelling time from office to school will take at least one and half hour... cannot make it in time to pick Niko from school...
iii) schools in Jurong East near Nick's office ==> Nick will bring Niko to and fro school... ==> maybe can do...

2nd milestone of the month!!
nion can sit by himself le!!
wooowhhhhoooo!! ^_^
maybe because nion dun have the strength during which he was down with baby measles, he wasn't as active as before and so, he 乖乖 sit there with support to play with his toys for a few days... every now and then i would test if he could sit on his own but without much success... until that fateful day 17 Feb 2009... nion can sit on his own le!! hahah, not bad!!

day 1 (13 Feb)...
got a call from home; 台湾阿玛 reported that Nion is slight feverish and ask us to go home as fast as we can... As Nion has always been on the HOT side, i didn't think too much about it~ when we reached home, we took Nion's temperature and was a high at 38.2degC... it was already late and all the clinic had closed by then... alas, we sponge Nion down through out the night so that his temperature would come down...
day 2 (14 Feb)...

Nion still is running a high fever and so we decided to visit dr. junior to seek his advise. after he had examined nion, dr. junior told us that he throat was quite red and that he has a lot of 'wind' in his stomach and that he was quite heaty... we were told not too worry; just give nion enough fluid and rest and to give me the medications on time (1 for fever 4 hourly, 1 for sore throat 8 hourly and 1 for stomach wind 8 hourly)... we told dr junior that nion wasn't drinking as much water; sometimes he rejected the bottle totally... he advise us to give him something sweet like barley with 冰糖 or honey water...
we asked whether is taking Friso 2 a bit too much for Nion and dr junior recommended that we switch back to Friso 1 for another month or so before slowly introducing Friso 2 to Nion (start with 3 scoops Friso1 + 1 scoop Friso2 & observe Nion's reaction; if he is good, then slowly decrease Friso1 and increase Friso2 content until completely replace Friso1 with Friso2)... we also asked about Nion's feeding time whether was it dragged for too long a period that contributed to the 'wind' build up; nion was feeding on 180mL every 6 hours then... dr junior recommended that we feed him every 4 to 4 and half hourly on 120mL to 150mL... over a period of 6 weeks; after which, increase the milk intake to 150mL and then to 180mL... and if we would like to give Nion solids, then replace that milk feed with solids and plenty of water...
we went home after the consultation and monitored Nion's conditions... gave nion his medications and he started to reject them by crying, shaking his head 'saying' 'my my my' and crying... so everytime we laid him down and he saw the syringe, he would have all that reactions... however, during the day time after medications, he's temperature would be ok, quite controllable but come night time, his temperature shot to a high of 39.4degC!! in the end, we had to use ice cold water to sponge him down... Couldn't go back to sleep seeing nion in this state... wanted to bring Nion to see dr. junior again but alas!! he dun open on sunday!!
day 3 (15 Feb)...

called tampines阿玛 to tell her of nion's situation and that we were going to bring nion to KKH already... luckily my sil was there; she said for us to bring nion to a sunday clinic run... she said she would bring tampines阿玛 over to take a Q number 1st while we make our way there... when we reached there, wah...!! the clinic looks so grand ley!! like for the royalties 1!! with roman pillars look alike some more!! hahah... :) wah but there's a lot of ppl inside!! alamak, like this have to wait how long before our turn ley...?!? tampines阿玛 couldn't take a Q number for us as she didn't have any documents to do registration for nion... have to wait then...
but surprisely, it didn;t take us to long before nion's name was called and the nurses took his height, weight and head circumference~ as nion was still running a very high temperature, doctor ordered for a urine test for nion... hmm, but how to?? the nurse carried nion to the washroom to wash & dry him; then she taped a bag there before she put nion back on diapers... we were then told to wait for nion's name to be called to go in to see the doctor... wah, the clinic quite efficient and were quite impressed lar... it took about less than 30 minutes and we were called to go into the doctor's room; doctor examined nion and looked at the medications that we were giving nion... she told us she couldn't advise much until nion has pass urine to do a urine test before she could conclude... alas, we have to wait outside and wait for nion to give some urine to test!!
alamak but how ah?!? maybe because of the sore throat, he wasn't drinking as much water as he use to do and wanna make him urine?!? no choice but to wait lor... 5 minutes, nothing... 10 minutes, nothing still... 15 minutes... 20 minutes... hmm, gave nion water he dun want... so i decided to go and buy 1 bottle of derolsa syrup to put into his water, hope that he would drink... in the end, i bought the syrup, together with 2 packs of 羚羊 and 1 pack of barley... all the 凉 stuff to cool nion down... went back to the clinic and mixed some derolsa syrup into nion's bottle of water... gave nion the bottle and he kept shaking his head, shutting his mouth and crying... alamak, no drink water how to have water coming out ah?!? no choice but to use the syring to give the water to him... haiyo but you see he so poor thing cry until like dunno what while we gave him the water... but alas, he did drank the water and so we hoped that he would quickly give something and the doctor could conclude on her examination... we gave nion water another 2 times and half an hour had passed without any end product... i then started to whistle, hoping that would trigger something... tampines阿玛 followed suit... it was quite a scene lar... the 2 of us whistling and the other parents near us, looking at us wondering what the hell were we doing... hahah, cannot help... by then, we had removed 1 tape of his diaper to reveal the baggy taped to his 'ahem'... we continued to whistle and true enough, nion started to 'wee wee'!! 'YAH!!' both tampines阿玛, Nick, Niko and me exclaimed in joy!! hahah so funnie ah we~ :p

we went to see dr junior again... by then, nion wasn't as active as before le; he dun 'jump' as much, smile as much, move his limbs as much and he dun get excited as easily... nion had lost weight!! he lost 0.2kg within these few days!! wah... so poor thing... seeing nion like this, dr junior said we had to start him on antibiotic already... he said that once we gave him that, the fever would start to come down but very slow... within 2-3 days, we would see rashes all over his body... he said that once his body has the rashes, it's an indication that the heatiness is being expelled from his body and that nion should be recovering soon then... the more rashes nion has, the better!! he said it's fake measles, aka baby measles or roseola... we were told to give nion the antibiotic for 5 days only... and maybe can keep nion in the air-con room to better regulate his temperature too since the weather was so hot...
we started nion on the antibiotic when we reached home... true enough, his temperature starts to lower a bit and towards to late afternoon, the fever was almost gone!! how amazing!!?!! but alas, the fever came back at night... but not as high as the previous nights...
day 5 (17 Feb)...

hmm, what's that on his face...?!? nion started to have some red dots on his forehead,,, ooohhhh, good good... is the 'sign'!! ^_^ but the rest of his body was still ok... nion had become very lethagic and very cranky... a bit a bit also cannot... very ali baba~ but what to do... he not feeling well mah... have to pacify him a lot... well, his temperature was ok in the day time... come night time, it rosed a bit...
day 6 (18 Feb)...
got the shock of my life!! nion's face is full of rashes!! so was his body, front and back!! wah... din know that it would be so bad and scary... but it's good ba~ dr junior said that the more the better...!! but still nion is very lethagic, like 爬地熊 ley~ 软趴趴的... luckily his appetitte is coming back; starts drinking his 120mL of milk and also show interest in my food now~ and he is drinking his water already, no forcing, by himself which was good... at least he was getting all his nutritions already... shouldn't be long before he is back to his usual happy self... seeing that, i made some more 羚羊 to give to nion hoping to cool him down some more~ by night time, there are rashes on his limbs le...

Nion still has the rashes on his face and body... but i think he wasn't feeling as bad as the previous days ley... he was not ali baba anymore and he wanted to play now~ good good~ on the road to recovery!!
Day 8 (20 Feb)
Rashes started to break out on his hands... not many, just a little...
Day 9 (21 Feb)
Rashes on his legs le... a little only too... the rashes on his face were fading...
Day 10 (22 Feb)
Rashes on face and body were fading... hmm, a bit more rashes breaking out on his limbs...
Day 11 (23 Feb)
!!!!! sudden outbreak of the rashes all over his limbs... but Nion was doing well. The rashes on his face is gone thou~ Body a bit still...
Day 12 (24 Feb)
rashes gone from face and body~ left with rashes on his limbs... but not as scary as of day 11...
day 13 (25 Feb)...
hmm, early morning can't see the rashes coz din on the lights... but can feel that the rashes are fading... hopefully everything clears up by tonight... :)

1st Deciduous tooth for Nion!!
ahhh, what is deciduous tooth?!? milk tooth lor...~ ^_^ heh
As usual, I was playing with Nion in my bed in the late morning on saturday 7 Feb 2009... hahah, he would babble babble, chew on his 贝贝, flip here flip there, turn in circles, swim frog style and so go and so go... then, i notice there's a thick layer of milk reminant on his tongue and so took a wet hanky to help clean his tongue... and as usual, Nion would close his mouth every now and then to 'bite' me hey but this time the feeling is different!! something sharp... 'Nion starts to teeth?!?' i thought... so i took off the wet hanky and put my index finger into his mouth to feel for any protruding stuff on his lower gum...
and there it is!! a right mandibular central incisor!! heheh i know i know... what is that mand what central what?!? is his right lower front tooth lor!! felt something on the left side too but not visible yet... maybe a few more days and it will rupture as well... :) see the chart for tooth development... Nion is well on track~ ^_^

30th January 2009, Nion
Nion went for his 3rd dose of 5-in-1 jab on 30th January 2009... but before his jab, Nion got to have his weight and height and head circumference taken...!!
Weight: 9.210kg
Height: 71cm
Head circumference: 45cm
all on the 90th percentile!! good good... equal developement!! :) wah, like this rate, can Nion grow up to be 1.83m tall?!? heheh :p
for this jab, Nion didn't cry at all!! funnie~ the 1st few times he did a bit ley... ^_^ maybe he 'grow' up le!! but his 姨姨 said he has got too much fats le that's why!! alamak, where got!!??!!
when we were done at the polyclinic, it was about 12noon already; cannot go back office le so in the end call up office to apply for 1 day leave...
Nion's passport was ready for collection on that day too and so, we venture onto the NEL train to go to lavendar station to collect his passport from ICA... when we got there, there were 70 q number before us!! alamak, have to wait how long ah?!? surprising, we only waited for 10 minutes for our number to be called!! wow, that's efficient!! heheh, very nice ley Nion's passport!! ^_^
